I’m passionate about parenting
I had a ‘challenging’ childhood. I remember making a decision as a young person that one day I would find a way to make it easier for parents and their children. I knew in my heart that there was more to know. I knew something wasn’t right.
As a result, I researched, read, studied and read and researched some more to find the most practical, effective and down to earth approach to parenting.
Determined to find the ‘right way to parent’, it wasn’t until I had my son 13 years ago that I really began to understand the reality of being a Mum.
I discovered that having a real child is totally different from what they say in the books! In fact my child didn’t do any of the stuff ‘right’ that they said he would and I didn’t feel like doing much of the stuff they said I should. I completely wore myself out with trying too hard. My child got too much and I gave myself too little. I was exhausted.
Then I read a book called Parent Effectiveness Training and it was like someone had hit me over the head with a mallet. Actually I think it hit my heart.
I suddenly realised that it was all about the quality of the relationship. The balance between you and me. Parent and child. They both had needs! I also understood that the needs of every single child and parent were slightly different, because everyone is unique. There is no ‘One size fits all’ approach and that is why the approach I developed is so lovely, it’s an approach just for you.
Why oh why hadn’t my parents read that book.
When you have a session or take a course with me, you’ll find a balance between your needs and the needs of your child, you’ll feel supported, make significant changes and develop closer and loving relationships with your children.
I want you to feel great. I want you to know what to do. I want you to love being a parent.
You can have happy children. You can be a happy parent. When you are ready, you really can achieve Harmony At Home. Guaranteed.
The great news is that my Mum did read the book eventually and I love her dearly.
Without her I wouldn’t be here.

Some Recommendations
This course has been very productive for me and very empowering for my kids. I’ve noticed quite a few changes in myself and so have others! I’m very glad I took this course. I have experienced a paradigm shift from authoritarian to consultative. I’ve completely fixed an issue, (which was 7 years old), in just 2 weeks!

Well things have certainly improved in our house since I took the course. I think the most significant change has been my relationship with myself. It has made the world of difference in my own clarity of thought and I feel so much more assertive and worthy and heard! When I forget to use my new skills with the kids I get resistance, defiance and protests straight away and as soon as I remember to use my new skills, they jump straight to the task almost immediately. I’m communicating and owning my needs very clearly and I’m no longer defensive from feeling unheard!

I wish I had done this course years ago! I’ve had instant results with my 8 year old daughter. She is far more willing to help and she’s much more talkative There has also been an improvement for me in talking with my husband, workmates and friends. Clare provided really helpful advice for scenarios we were all trying to deal with on the course. I can’t think of any way the course could be improved. There was a good mix of theory, practice, discussion, examples and fun.

I have had some fabulous conversations with both of my girls and realise I really need this one-on-one time. I have learnt a lot about them and their thoughts/feelings.

The course enabled me to start thinking differently and to find more effective tools for resolving conflict, both between my children and between my children and myself. I have found it very useful.

Harmony At Home
I would recommend these workshops to any classroom, not only were they beneficial to the students but they opened my eyes to how children think about these matters. I thought Clare was great, the kids responded well and we have had many follow up conversations about bullying.

I can’t believe that the children revealed so much, what an eye opener!

The ‘Understanding Bullying and Social Cruelty” Workshop that you held with our students made a positive impact on them. I have found my students to be more tolerant of each other and each other’s differences. They all have a much higher level of understanding for the needs of others. I felt your workshop was like giving them a key with which they could unlock the door on a lot of the pain that they carried with them. It has been a freeing and uplifting process for them. I am really pleased that you worked with all the students and it is great that they all now have a common language to identify how they feel.
